About NegarHC

Handicrafts as living heritage and a tool for social transformation

01

Who We Are

NegarHC is a purpose-driven collective standing at the intersection of art, culture, and women's empowerment. The name "نگار" (Negar) itself carries deep cultural resonance—it is a Persian feminine name meaning "beloved" or "the one who adorns," often used to describe beauty and intricate design, much like the crafts we champion.

We are a group of believers in handicrafts as living heritage and a tool for social transformation. At our core are women artisans from Afghanistan—women who weave the stories, traditions, and beauty of their homeland into every thread of carpets, pottery, textiles, and other handmade creations.

We are not merely a retail company; we are advocates, facilitators, and amplifiers for these artisans. This support is especially critical after the Taliban takeover, which has caused many of these women—often heads of households—to lose their means of livelihood. The NegarHC team consists of art historians, market developers, and technology specialists united by a love for culture and a commitment to fairness, working together to redefine how traditional crafts are presented and valued.

What We Do

Our mission focuses on three pillars:

Preserving and Promoting Authentic Handicrafts

We seek out, identify, and showcase regional handicrafts, especially those at risk of being forgotten. Our collections range from carpets, kilims, and pottery to traditional jewelry and handwoven textiles.

Empowering Women Artisans from Afghanistan

We create a fair, transparent, and sustainable marketplace for women artisans from Afghanistan. Every artisan featured on our platform is presented with her name and personal story, so each buyer knows exactly whose hands created their piece.

Bridging Tradition and the Contemporary World

We guide artisans in adapting designs and colors, and present these works in new contexts—such as modern interior design. We introduce these crafts to a global audience as living, functional elements of everyday life.

03

How We Do It

Our work is built on a foundation of an ethical and transparent cycle:

1

Identification & Networking

Direct engagement with local communities and home-based workshops in Afghanistan.

2

Quality & Authenticity

Each piece receives a certificate of authenticity after meticulous review.

3

Storytelling & Marketing

Crafting authentic narratives shared via website, social media, and catalogs.

4

Direct-Access Platform

Secure online marketplace with professional logistics and customer support.

5

Fair Trade Commitment

Fair pricing, secure payments via trusted local group leaders.

6

Protection & Respect

Strict adherence to international data privacy standards.

Ultimately, our approach is about "collaboration," not just "transaction." We learn, grow, and expand the market together with our artisans from Afghanistan, so that handmade art is recognized not merely as a commodity, but as a symbol of identity, beauty, and justice.
